Pro Davida bojujícího s nádorem na mozku

Tuto sbírku jsem se rozhodla založit na podporu uzdravení mého bratra Davida. Bratr bojuje s nádorem na mozku již od roku 2016. Nejprve se nádor jevil jako nezhoubný oligodendrogliom, byl mu částečně operativně odebrán, následovala chemoterapie a ozařování. Po kontrolních snímcích magnetické rezonance to vypadalo, že se podařilo zastavit jeho růst.

Koncem loňského roku bylo Davidovi oznámeno, že nádor opět roste. Byla mu opět doporučena chemoterapie nebo operace mozkového nádoru. David se rozhodl pro operaci formou „awake“. Při této operaci pacienta probudí během operace a komunikují s ním, aby pacientovi nepoškodili životně důležité funkce. Operaci David podstoupil v březnu 2023 ve Fakultní nemocnici u sv. Anny v Brně, kde jej operoval skvělý pan doktor Mackerle. Operace dopadla dobře, podařilo se odstranit velkou část nádoru, za což panu doktorovi patří velký dík.

Mysleli jsme si, že máme zčásti vyhráno, avšak jak ukázala magnetická rezonance, nádor začal opět růst a vyskytla se i nová ložiska. Na Žlutém kopci v Brně nám sdělili, že se jedná o anaplastický oligodendrogliom a doba přežití bez léčby může být 1–2 roky, s pomocí chemoterapie 3–4 roky. Typ chemoterapie PCV, která mu byla doporučena, je ta nejagresivnější a není možné ji absolvovat v životě vícekrát, proto prosíme o finanční podporu, aby David mohl vyzkoušet i jiné metody léčby, které dosud v České republice nejsou dostupné a pojišťovna je neproplácí.

Presentation of Charity Collection

I decided to set up this collection to support the recovery of my brother David. He has been fighting brain tumor since 2016. Initially, the tumor seemed to be a benign oligodendroglioma. Part of it was surgically removed, the operation was followed by chemotherapy and radiation therapy. After the follow-up MRI scans, it seemed that the tumor stopped growing.

 At the end of last year, David was informed that the tumor was growing again. He was again recommended chemotherapy or brain tumor surgery. David opted for a „awake“ surgery, during which the patient is woken up during the operation and surgeons communicate with the patient to avoid damaging vital body functions. David underwent this surgery in March 2023 at St. Anne's Faculty Hospital in Brno, where he was operated on by an excellent specialist Dr. Mackerle. The surgery went well, and a significant portion of the tumor was successfully removed. We are very grateful for that to Dr. Mackerle.

We thought we had partly won the battle, but as the MRI scan revealed, the tumor had started growing again, and new lesions appeared. Specialists at the Cancer hospital at Žlutý kopec in Brno named the tumor as an anaplastic oligodendroglioma, and the survival time without treatment may be 1–2 years, with chemotherapy treatment, 3–4 years. The PCV chemotherapy recommended to him is the most aggressive type of chemotherapy, and it can be taken only once in life. Therefore, we kindly ask for your financial support so that David can try other methods of treatment, which are not available in the Czech Republic yet and the health insurance does not cover them.

Tuto sbírku bych ráda věnovala svému bratrovi na pomoc v jeho boji s mozkovým nádorem. Bratr se od útlého věku věnuje sportu (fitness, běh, lyžování, plavání), dbá na zdravou stravu a je nekuřák. Snaží se dodržovat zdravý životní styl, protože mu nikdy nebylo lhostejné jeho zdraví. Pravidelně chodí na lékařské prohlídky, a i přes to všechno se ozvala nemoc, kterou by nikdo z nás nečekal. Nemoc, která se nazývá „mozkový tumor“.

Who will be helped?

I would like to dedicate this collection to my brother to assist his fight with brain tumor. Since his childhood my brother spent a lot of time doing various sports (fitness, running, skiing, swimming), he has had a healthy diet, and has always been a non-smoker. He strives to uphold a healthy lifestyle because his health has always been of great importance to him. He has regularly undergone medical check-ups, and despite all these efforts, he fell seriously ill – he was diagnosed with „brain tumor.“

Peníze budou využity na léčbu, kterou v České republice neproplácí pojišťovna. Chceme vyzkoušet všechny možné varianty léčby. Jedna z možností je léčba pomocí elektrických polí TTF. Tato metoda poškozuje nádorové buňky a brání jim v jejich dělení. Další možnosti léčby jsou převážně v zahraničí. Uvažujeme i o lokálně podávané chemoterapii, která se podává přímo do nádoru a neničí tím ostatní zdravé buňky, tento typ chemoterapie se u nás bohužel zatím nevyskytuje. Chtěli bychom vyzkoušet veškeré možné léčebné metody, které by Davidovi pomohli k jeho uzdravení.

What will the funds from this collection be specifically used for?

The funds will be used for David’s treatment which is not covered by the health insurance in the Czech Republic. We want to try all possible treatment options. One of the options is treatment with TTF (Tumor Treating Fields), which damages the tumor cells and stops their division. Other treatment options are primarily available abroad. We are also considering locally administered chemotherapy, which is directly applied into the tumor without harming healthy cells. We would like to experience all possible treatment methods that could help David in his recovery.
